Cortex AI and your source code
Choose a task. The Cortex BASIC language reference is included with every request.
Cortex BASIC reference · language features and browser requirements.
An assistant that knows Cortex
Use the bottom AI tab to configure your provider and key, then Test connection. A successful response confirms the provider and model for this session; saving alone does not. Connection tests send no code or language reference. Open the sparkle AI button beside Run in Editor to generate, edit, explain, fix, refactor, comment, ask questions, or modernize old BASIC. Each coding request includes the versioned Cortex language reference. Choose whether to include the current file and review it before sending. Select up to four additional BASIC files and optionally the latest matching runtime error. Only checked context is sent; review it before asking.
Cloudflare Agents support the AI workflow
Choose OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini, enter a supported model ID and use your own API key. Cortex AI orchestration uses Cloudflare Agents; provider requests use the Cortex server. Requests temporarily pass through the Cortex server, including the provider key. Keys, source and responses are not saved on that server. Provider billing and data policies apply. BASIC runs locally even when AI is unavailable.
Review code before it enters your project
Review the response and edit its suggested BASIC code. Replace the current file or insert at the selection last saved in Editor. The combined file and its local includes are parsed and checked for unknown commands, functions, and selected argument/declaration mismatches. Issues show the source file and line. Prepare correction lets you review a follow-up request; Check suggestion rechecks manual edits. No code runs automatically. Undo last AI change is available while this screen remains open. The changes preview marks removals and additions. Static checks do not guarantee runtime behavior, types, permissions, or every API argument. Ambiguous function/array calls require a definition or array declaration. Responses and instructions are cleared on navigation, reload or backgrounding.
Send the context the task needs
Prepare Git tokens and AI keys here. Credentials stay separate from BASIC programs and project backups.
Lock clears all active keys. Reloading, leaving the tab in the background, or five minutes without interaction also locks them. Moving between IDE views keeps this session.
Saving your key encrypted on this device is not 100% safe. A compromised device or malicious code running while it is unlocked could access it. You can choose to enter your key each session instead.
There is no passphrase recovery. Clearing browser data, changing browsers or losing your passphrase can lose saved keys. Use the provider to revoke a key; forgetting it here only removes this copy.
