Your code. Your workspace.
Privacy starts with keeping you in control.
Privacy
Cortex BASIC uses no analytics. Your language preference is stored locally and in a first-party cookie for up to one year.
Projects autosave in this browser on this device. Clearing website data removes them. Private browsing may be temporary. Save your workspace in Projects for local storage. Export a backup to keep elsewhere. Only Ask sends your instructions and optional source to your chosen provider through the Cortex server. Your API key is forwarded for that request, never saved on the server. Provider usage charges and data policies apply. Responses are not saved as chat history. Git requests go directly from this browser to GitHub. Cortex servers do not receive your GitHub token.
If you submit the Support form, the contact details and message you type are sent through our email delivery service to NDB Software to respond to your request. Project files and device details are not attached automatically. Support correspondence is kept in our email inbox; contact nathan.baughman@outlook.com to request deletion.

Prepare Git tokens and AI keys here. Credentials stay separate from BASIC programs and project backups.
Use for this session only
Lock clears all active keys. Reloading, leaving the tab in the background, or five minutes without interaction also locks them. Moving between IDE views keeps this session.
Save encrypted on this device
Use a strong, unique passphrase of 16–256 characters, with no spaces at the beginning or end. Both entries must match.
Saving your key encrypted on this device is not 100% safe. A compromised device or malicious code running while it is unlocked could access it. You can choose to enter your key each session instead.
No server-side credential storage.
Only Ask sends your instructions and optional source to your chosen provider through the Cortex server. Your API key is forwarded for that request, never saved on the server. Provider usage charges and data policies apply. Responses are not saved as chat history.

Your browser. Your recovery choice.
There is no passphrase recovery. Clearing browser data, changing browsers or losing your passphrase can lose saved keys. Use the provider to revoke a key; forgetting it here only removes this copy.
